In this post I will answer the question of Is The Wealthy Affiliate a Scam or Not?

I totally get why you are doing this research, as I was in the same boat as you when I was deciding what online business to start. There are lots of scams online aimed at people that want to earn money from home or wherever they may be. The more you look the more your suspicions grow, as you get a lot of conflicting information, which makes you more weary of online ‘gurus’.

This is the right mindset to be in, as you really don’t want to get caught out.

So, Is The Wealthy Affiliate a Scam or Not?

The simple answer is no, Wealthy Affiliate is not a scam. Wealthy Affiliate is 100% legal and is a quality platform to build you business from. I have been using it for a while now and you can learn about what I like and don’t like about it in my post Does Wealthy Affiliate really work?

But you need to know something. There used to be a website called This was taken down, as it was found out to be scamming people looking for the popular affiliate marketing platform. Therefore you should not confuse the two websites.

But you would be forgiven for still thinking that there seems to be something that isn’t quite right about the real Wealthy Affiliate platform.

I will now put your mind at rest. I will explain why Wealthy Affiliate comes across as a scam and tell you why it isn’t.

Why The Wealthy Affiliate Seems Like A Scam

I am going to talk you through the process of how I came across Wealthy Affiliate. There is a good chance that you are going though the same scenario, so I hope this helps.

When I was trying to decide what online business to start, I did a lot of research online. I wanted to find out as much information as I could to see what I needed to do to start, what it was like to run an affiliate marketing business and how to make it successful.

There are loads of gurus online selling their courses and systems. They all promise to teach you the secrets to earning money with affiliate marketing. I’m not saying that they are all scams, but many of them are and it is difficult to determine the legitimate ones from the dodgy ones.

I looked in to various options to try to determine if they are reliable sources of information. I ruled out most of them, mainly because they were not giving me enough information about what they were offering before handing over my credit card details. I also wanted to see what it was like to have an affiliate marketing business before I committed time and effort in to it.

By searching for things like “Is The Wealthy Affiliate a Scam or Not?” and “Wealthy Affiliate scam”, I found loads of reviews. The thing is, all of these reviews were positive and singing Wealthy Affiliate’s praises. I can’t believe that something is 100% perfect, so I decided to look in to it much further.

Why Are There No Negative Reviews Of Wealthy Affiliate?

Is The Wealthy Affiliate a Scam or Not? - positive

Therefore, Wealthy Affiliate is not a scam, but their methods of marketing could be seen as a bit scammy, depending on how you look at it.

Guess What?.....

You have probably worked this out, but I am a Wealthy Affiliate member. My website is primarily aimed at people that want to live a flexible lifestyle through having their own affiliate marketing business (I have other websites too). I want to be as open as possible, as I know how much commitment it takes to have an affiliate marketing business and I don’t want people to waste their time, as affiliate marketing isn’t for everyone.

There are affiliate links to Wealthy Affiliate all over this website and if you happen to sign up and go premium, I will get paid for it. So this is a totally biased post in favour of Wealthy Affiliate and you should probably be sceptical about it, just like the other ones you find.

Who Should Sign Up To The Wealthy Affiliate Platform?

Throughout my website and with Wealthy Affiliate, you will notice that at no point is affiliate marketing billed as a get rich quick scheme. This is because I want you to have the real picture of what it takes to become an affiliate marketer. When done properly, affiliate marketing is a sustainable business that will make you money for years to come. If you are looking for a get rich quick scheme, don’t sign up. You really need to be realistic about what is possible, as there is no such thing as a get rich quick scheme…..however, if you find one let me know 🙂

In truth, it takes about six months before you will see a penny. Your earnings may fluctuate for a few months after that, but it still won’t be a significant figure. Depending on your niche and how hard you work, you will be earning some good money after a year or two.

This may sound like a long time, and it is, but I would rather you know the truth, than fill your head with false expectations. You need to remember that with affiliate marketing, you are working for your future and not for now.

If you are the type of person that is happy to put in the time and effort by promoting other people’s products and services, you should take a look at the Wealthy Affiliate Free Membership.

Your Options

Do Nothing

From what you have read here, you may be put off and realistic that affiliate marketing is not for you. That is totally fine and I wish you luck in finding the best course of action for you. Just be careful about what the online ‘gurus’ tell you.

Find Another Method

You could trawl the internet looking for all the information you want about affiliate marketing. There is a lot of information out there. But the problem is, there is a lot of contradictories on how to do things. This can lead to paralysis by analysis, where you get so much information, you don’t know where to start.

The other way, is to trust one of the affiliate marketing gurus and pay for their ebooks or courses. I mentioned this at the start of this post and I believe that it is difficult to determine the good guys from the bad guys.

Final Thoughts On Is The Wealthy Affiliate a Scam or Not?

From what I have said in this post, what do you think? I suppose that it could be seen as a bit deceitful. Even this post could come across in that way.

You have to admit that it is an excellent marketing strategy. Teach people how to market, so they can promote the platform they signed up to if they believe in it enough. This way, there will only be positive reviews. Personally, I think it is a great idea and this website is just one of my niche websites and I have learned everything from Wealthy Affiliate.
