Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam or What? Learn the truth

Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam or What?

When I started looking in to affiliate marketing, I wanted to know if it was going to give me the lifestyle I wanted. I found lots of different organisations that claimed to teach you how to afford Ferraris and boats with affiliate marketing. However, Wealthy Affiliate was a bit more subtle about earning money online. Because of this, I was attracted to it, but I was still sceptical. Therefore, I decided to some digging so I could answer the question” Is Wealthy Affiliate a scam or what?“.

What is Appealing About Affiliate Marketing?

I live in the French Alps, which is an amazing playground. I moved here to snowboard in the winter and mountain bike in the summer amongst other things. I was working for a holiday company, which was great. However, I became a manager and was stuck in an office. My days off were great, but being stuck in the office on blue sky powder days was frustrating. So, I did a lot of research in to online businesses, so I can have the flexibility to work my own hours. I decided on affiliate marketing. The idea was that, if  I can get a few hours on the mountain in the morning, I can work a bit later in to the evening, happy that I have made the most out of my day.

In addition to this, affiliate marketing is a relatively cheap way of setting up your own business. You need a computer, an internet connection and a good work ethic.

What is Wealthy Affiliate?

During my research Wealthy Affiliate came up a lot. It is one of the most well known training programs for affiliate marketing. The fact that you are on this page, says to me you are at the point where I was when I was doing my research.

You are probably thinking, that Wealthy Affiliate looks good, but you are dubious about spending time and money on something you have found on the internet.

This is perfectly reasonable. We live in a world full of scams and pyramid schemes. In my opinion, you are right to be sceptical about these things. Some homework will help you make informed decisions, not just to protect yourself from scams, but to make a decision if something is right for you in the first place.

With a sceptical mind, as you keep  looking in to affiliate marketing, and trying to answer the question ” is Wealthy Affiliate a scam or what? your suspicions are likely to grow.

Is Wealthy Affiliate A Scam or What?

In short, the answer to this question is, no Wealthy Affiliate is not a scam. But, you may now have another question “So, why does Wealthy Affiliate look like a scam?”.

I think the reason for this, is that it looks too good to be true. Wealthy Affiliate provide a perfectly legal service that is of high quality. But, there are a few things you need to know. I am going to share with you, what a lot of sites similar to mine won’t.

So Why Am I Doubting Wealthy Affiliate?

There is a process that you will be going through, as I did while researching your potential move in to affiliate marketing. I am going to describe the process how I went through it, but I expect it may ring true with you too.

As I said at the top of this page, I wanted a flexible way to enjoy my life while working my own hours. I was looking to make the most of the good conditions on the mountain, while being able to afford to live the lifestyle.

Stage 1 - I want to make changes to my life

I live in the French Alps which it isn’t a cheap place to be. Therefore, online work seemed to tick a lot of boxes. But, I needed to do some research before I jumped in to it, as I knew very little about it.

I looked in to drop shipping, blog writing, copywriting and came across affiliate marketing.

Stage 2 - In-depth Research

This is when you start researching affiliate marketing online.

I did a lot if this and signed up to lots of email  lists. My inbox was full of sales emails. It was a lot of “do you want to work to your own hours?” ” You can earn lots of money affiliate marketing, just sign up to this course and learn how“. But, I wanted to know more about it before spending any money on starting a course.

The organisation that stood out to me was Wealthy Affiliate. This is because it offered a lot before you had to spend any money. It wasn’t as pushy as the other ones either. However, my sceptical mind was still telling me to be weary.

This is when I started googling:

is Wealthy Affiliate a scam?” and   “does Wealthy Affiliate work?“.

This is probably the stage you are at right now. You will probably find lots of websites from these google searches, which keeps you sceptical. You will also find lots of positive reviews.

Why are there so many websites about the Wealthy Affiliate Scam?

As I said to you earlier, Wealthy Affiliate is not a scam. When you sign up, you are actually getting a very good service and product. But, there are a few things you need to know.

The first thing, is that when you sign up to Wealthy Affiliate, you actually become am affiliate for Wealthy Affiliate. This means there is an incentive for you to get other people to sign up. If you click on the Wealthy Affiliate link from one of these reviews, and eventually sign up to the Premium membership, the person that owns that affiliate link will earn a small commission.

When you sign up to Wealthy Affiliate, it is not compulsory to promote it. There is enough training for you to set up your website for the niche you are passionate about. But, if you fancy it, you can do extra training, in the form of the Wealthy Affiliate Boot Camp.

The reviews you read are definitely biased towards Wealthy Affiliate. This is because the reviews will make money from people signing up to it.

So the answer to the Question “Is Wealthy Affiliate a scam or what?” is no. Wealthy Affiliate is a quality product, but the marketing strategies could be seen as a scam.

Want me to tell you a secret?

I’m sure you have worked it out, but you are reading one of those is it a scam?/review posts. Yes this is one of my affiliate marketing sites. The idea behind this website, is to help those that want to live a similar lifestyle to me. But, the same principle can work for the unemployed, students, new parents, people living the van life or anyone that wants to earn a living online.

To be totally honest with you, if you click on one of my affiliate links, I may earn some money from you. Don’t worry it won’t cost you anymore than going direct to Wealthy Affiliate, if you sign up to the Premium membership.

So, this is one of those biased reviews, I want you to click on one of these links.

Should you be sceptical about this whole website?

Yes you should, you don’t know me. I would be sceptical too. However, I am one of the few that wants to tell the truth.

Stay with me, I'm not done

I have been totally honest with you so far, so hopefully you are still with me.

This marketing strategy that could be seen as a bit of a scam, is actually a very good idea. It works and it delivers.

From my research, I found lots of ways to make money online. Wealthy Affiliate gives you all the information on how to build your website and get it to rank highly in search engines. When you look at all the reviews you found at the top of google, you will notice that they are all written by people that use Wealthy Affiliate.

So, if you think about it, it really works. These people have used their Wealthy Affiliate training to get their Wealthy Affiliate reviews to rank highly. The reason you are finding lots of these reviews, is possibly why it may come across as a scam.

You do not have to promote Wealthy Affiliate!

I know I said this earlier, but I really want to re-iterate this fact. Wealthy Affiliate is not a pyramid scheme, where you have to promote it and get other people to do so. You can simply follow the training and make your website in your chosen niche.

I got to a point where I felt it was time to start a new website and take advantage of the extra training. The extra training helped me improve my existing sites and reminded me of some things that I had forgotten and about some things that I had let slip.

Why should I click on your affiliate link?

This is probably what you are thinking right now. But, I think I have been pretty honest with you and you can ask me any question you like. If you click on my affiliate link, I will be notified if you sign up. This is where I will contact you and offer any help I can. This is even the case if you just sign up to the free membership.

I’ve been doing this for a while and it now allows me to live the lifestyle I want. If I can help others do that too, then all is good with the world.

How Wealthy Affiliate Training Works

The first thing to do is sign up. I signed up to the free membership, because I figured I could get a good look at what it is all about, as I still wasn’t sure if affiliate marketing was for me. If you are at a similar stage, I recommend this. Don’t sign up for a premium membership straight away, you need to make some decisions before you start spending money. You can even use a fake name and email address, but it isn’t necessary.

You will discover, that if you want to really progress with your affiliate marketing, that you will need to go premium. But, you won’t have a problem with that if you are truly committed.

1.Learn about affiliate marketing

With the Wealthy Affiliate free membership, you can start the training. It starts with the very basics of affiliate marketing. There are literally hundreds of training videos and lessons included in the free membership. There is also a Wealthy Affiliate community, that is super helpful, as is the support from the Wealthy Affiliate team.

2. Discovering your niche

Once you have the basics of affiliate marketing, the Wealthy Affiliate training moves on to discovering your niche. Wealthy Affiliate has numerous training modules to help you do this, using their techniques and tools (which you have free access to as a free member). You will learn how to determine the competition and demand for your chosen niche.

3. Get your website up and running

Once you have decided on your niche, you need a website. Wealthy Affiliate takes you through getting your domain name. In fact it is super easy and only takes one click. If you are concerned about not knowing any of the technical stuff, you don’t need to worry. This is because hosting, servers, security and technical support is all taken care of.

4. Content Creation

Now you have a shiny new website, you need to put stuff on it. The training takes you through how to do this. It will tell you that you don’t need to be a writer, just a communicator. Basically, you just need to write as if you are talking to someone.

You will learn how to write reviews and other content that people will be engaged in and will ultimately bring money in to your bank account.

5. Continued Training

Once you have completed the Online Entrepreneur Certification, the training doesn’t stop. You have access to training created by the Wealthy Affiliate community. These are usually cool tricks that they have picked up along the way. But, you also have access to weekly live training. These lessons include search engine optimisation, keyword research, social media marketing, E-commerce and much more.

6. The Community

The Wealthy Affiliate community is very helpful. They are a nice bunch and there are about 1 million of them. This is both good and slightly frustrating. On the good side, if you have a question you are likely to get an answer very quickly. In addition to this, you can search for when other people have had the same question in the past. This means that there will likely to be an answer.

However, sometimes you ask a question and you may get an answer from someone who is not that experienced. This doesn’t mean that the answer is wrong. It is just that you can spend more time explaining stuff to them than receiving the answer you really need.

But, on the whole the Wealthy Affiliate community is a great resource that can dig you out of a hole very quickly.

7. Wealthy Affiliate Support

When my first website went down for the first time, I panicked. WHAT DO I DO?!

I submitted a site support ticket and my site was up and running in less than five minutes. Pretty good service, if you ask me. But there is a lot more to it, I have written a review (warts n’ all). Click here to check it out.

So, is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam or What?

From what you have learned either from me or other sources, do you think that Wealthy Affiliate is a scam? I would love to know your opinion. Let me know in the comments below.

In a way I can see how people may perceive it as a bit underhand, by getting loads of people to make loads of money from promoting it. This makes it difficult to find a negative review about Wealthy Affiliate. But you have to admit, it is a great idea.

Kyle and Carson, the owners of Wealthy Affiliate have hundreds of people that have done their training, promoting their business for them. You may feel deceived at first, but it is obvious that they know what they are doing. This is why I signed up.

Welath affiliate has been working for people for a long while now and though I seem to have come to the party late I believe I will still share my success story in a short while of how this platform has impacted me too. Their huge resource of training materials is also something worth noting. Kudos to the founder of the platform.

I can absolutely without a shadow of a doubt proclaim that Wealthy Affiliate is one of the best platforms that teaches affiliate marketing that I have come across.
Like you, I also sought freedom from a regular 9-5 job. Unfortunately, my research led me to quite a few scam sites. Most of who promised riches pretty much overnight :O How tempting. I even fell for a few of them… shame on me.

What appealed to me most about Wealthy Affiliate was the fact that they did not want my credit card information for signing up. They are very upfront about the fact that making money overnight is pretty much impossible if you don’t put some work in first. I really liked this. No bogus promises, but real promises that are delivered on after putting in your hard work.
I have first-hand experience of this, and I cannot thank Wealthy Affiliate enough for the difference it’s made in my life so far.

I have learned amazing new skills, not only in affiliate marketing but also skills I can use as a content creator, SEO expert, web designer, youtube, webinar host, you name it!

I don’t think it’s a scam at all. Yes, they get free promotion, but double yes, we get QUALITY and affordable training that really works. I think it’s a good deal.
